Lesson on Heaven (Teacher Guide)

 

1)     Attendance and prayer requests

2)       Icebreaker: Gum Art: (Supplies: 20 sticks of gum, 20 index cards and toothpicks)

Give each student a stick of gum, index card and toothpick. Tell then to chew the gum and then spread out on the index card and make a creative design that has to do with heaven. When they are done have them show their designs and tell about them.

3)     Do the Bible Challenge (Bible study) Put up a poster with all the weeks and students names. Have them check off each Bible study as they do it each week. After 4 weeks give them a simple prize (candy bars, pencils, etc), work in pairs, teacher helps those that are struggling trying to find the verse in their NIV Bibles.

Subject: What is heaven like?

4)     Go over the pages and talk about the answers. Let them ask questions. Add your own knowledge about heaven. Maybe tell a story of some near death experience, etc.

5)     Review Game: Sponge ball Baseball (supplies: spongy cloth ball and spatula, paper bases) Rules: Play it like baseball with soft balls and spatula as the bat. As each person gets up to bat must answer one of the review questions.

7)      Are there trees, fruit or rivers in heaven? (Yes)

8)      Who went to heaven before us to prepare a room for us? (Jesus)

9)      Are there any rewards in heaven? (yes)

10)  What kind of body will we have in heaven: physical or spiritual? (spiritual)

11)  Name one thing the Bible predicted before it happened (some prophecies were 1000 years before it happened).(virgin birth, crucifixion, resurrection, etc)

12)  How many books are in the Bible? 66

13)  How many years did it take to write the Bible, 600 or 1600 years? 1600

14)  What book of the New Testament tells of Jesus birth, death and resurrection?(Matthew, Luke)

15)  Did Jesus know he was going to be crucified and then raise from the death? (Yes)
