Let’s start with

what doesn’t work:

1. Be such a nice person that God has to let you in.

2. Go to church whenever you can.

3. Give your money to the poor.

Now, don’t get me wrong, those are nice things to do but none of them will get you to heaven

unless. . .

you understand that God says that, "Everyone has sinned. (done wrong things) No one measures up to God’s glory" Romans 3:23

"Sin entered the world because one man (Adam) sinned. Death came because of sin." Romans 5:12

So, what can we do to get out of paying for our own sin--how can we get right with God?

John the Baptist figured it out: "The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him and said, ‘Look, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!’ . . . I have seen and I testify that this is the Son of God!" John 1:29, 34 wpe15.jpg (3124 bytes)

That’s right! God sent His only Son, Jesus, to live in a human body, to live a life without sin and then to die on the cross to take away our sins!

What do YOU have to do to be saved from eternal death? The people in Jesus’ day asked the same question!

"Brothers, what shall we do? Peter replied, ‘All of you must turn away from your sins and be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ. Then your sins will be forgiven. You will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.’"Acts 2:37-38

And in another verse, Romans 10:9, "That if you confess with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord’ and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.’

Now, you are thinking, what exactly does it mean to believe in Jesus?

(Even the devil knows who Jesus is!)

It means to give Jesus control of your life: to make Him the boss. It starts with a simple prayer like this:

"Lord, I am sorry for all the things I’ve done wrong and I want to live like you want me too now. Forgive me! I

Believe Jesus died to pay for my sins and that He is the Son of God. I ask that He comes into my life and takes control of it. Thank you for saving me, Amen!"

and ends with a life following Him: reading the Bible, praying and following His teachings.

If you have asked Jesus to take charge of your life then you can be SURE that you are a child of God and going to heaven some day!!
